Forklift Maintenance Schedules

Forklifts are versatile pieces of equipment. They can be used to lift and transport heavy loads. However, they are delicate systems as well. Forklifts use a hydraulic system to lift objects. It also has a typical engine that powers the machine and allows you to drive it. These systems require regular maintenance and repairs to perform optimally. Here is a general breakdown of when you should do maintenance on your forklifts:

• Every 200 Engine Hours: Every 200 hours that the engine of a forklift is run, you should have a service technician perform a full inspection. They should be checking the conditions of the spark plugs, distributor point, and lift. It is recommended that you change the oil and air filters as well. If fuel has been left in the tank for a while, you should change that also. Consider greasing components and the chassis as well.

• Every 600 Engine Hours: You should do everything mentioned above as well as some additional tasks. You should replace the hydraulic filter and fluid, clean the radiator, and adjust the chassis links. Be sure to inspect the hoses, the PCV valve, transmission oil, lift chain tension, and carriage rollers.

• Every 90-Days: This is more for preventative maintenance measures. You should have the forklift fully inspected for any concerns and repairs that are needed. Consider replacing the oil, greasing parts, changing the air filter, and anything else that ensures smooth operation.
